Highlights from PIANC APAC 2024: Our contributions to coastal and maritime innovation

The PIANC APAC 2024 event in Sydney was a showcase of innovative solutions and cutting-edge research in coastal and maritime engineering. We are proud to contribute to this global event, where experts came together to address the industry's most pressing challenges. Our team of experts had three presentations during the event showcasing our commitment to delivering solutions that are not only technically advanced but also sustainable and resilient.

Samantha Law: Enhancing coastal resilience with nature-based solutions

Samantha Law captivated attendees with her presentation on "Enhancing coastal resilience: beneficial reuse of dredged material through implementation of a nature-based design approach.". Samantha demonstrated how dredged material, often seen as waste, can be repurposed to strengthen coastal ecosystems. By implementing nature-based design solutions, her approach addresses both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency, offering a global model for resilient coastal management.

Jarryd Barnes: Advancing sediment management

JJarryd Barnes presented his research on "Field measurement and numerical modelling of resuspended sediment due to tugs." His work, focusing on understanding the environmental impacts of port operations, combines field measurements with sophisticated numerical modelling. The insights from Jarryd’s study are critical for port authorities seeking to reduce their environmental footprint.

During the event Jarryd received the Young author award from for his paper. Congratulations.

Linden Clarke: Optimizing transhipment operations

Linden Clarke’s talk on "Transhipment capacity modelling" explored innovative ways to optimize transhipment systems. By identifying inefficiencies and proposing advanced modelling techniques, Linden’s work aims to streamline operations and reduce costs for global logistics. Her research is a key example of how we are driving improvements in the operational efficiency of the maritime sector.
