Pioneering sustainable ship design

Our expertise in naval architecture allows us to deliver ship designs that are not only efficient but also sustainable. Our extensive experience in integrating advanced technologies has enabled us to design vessels that meet and exceed today’s stringent safety and environmental regulations.

By collaborating early with class societies and equipment suppliers, we ensure that our vessels achieve the highest standards in operational safety and crew comfort. We are a leader in hybrid ship design, developing award-winning vessels that optimise fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Our innovative high-efficiency hull forms and use of alternative energy sources are steps toward a zero-emission future.

Driving maritime innovation

Innovation is the key to advancing maritime safety and environmental sustainability. We are committed to embracing new technologies and exploring alternative fuels. Our Large Uncrewed Surface Vessel (LUSV) concept is an example of how autonomy and alternative fuels can work together to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Through partnerships like our collaboration with WingTEK, we are developing wind-assisted propulsion systems that further reduce emissions and energy consumption. These innovations represent the future of maritime sustainability.

Safety and alternative fuels

The shift to alternative fuels is critical for reducing maritime emissions, but it also presents new challenges. Many alternative fuels are flammable or toxic, creating potential risks for seafarers and communities. Safety is at the heart of our work.

Our expert teams design vessels that safely use alternative fuels, and we support retrofitting existing ships to meet new standards. This focus on safety extends to port infrastructure, ensuring that alternative fuel bunkering processes protect local communities and the environment.

BMT REMBRANDT: simulation and training for safer operations

BMT REMBRANDT provides cutting-edge simulation and training for maritime professionals. By replicating real-world conditions, including tidal flows and weather, BMT REMBRANDT helps crews practise port entry, exit, and berthing. This simulation reduces the risk of accidents and hones navigation skills in a controlled environment.

BMT REMBRANDT is also used by safety boards for incident analysis, helping investigators understand accidents and apply lessons learned to prevent future incidents.

Leading in maritime autonomy

As the maritime industry moves towards autonomy, we are leading the way. Our expertise in systems engineering and naval architecture supports the transition to autonomous vessels. We guide our customers through every stage, from concept development to regulatory approval, ensuring a smooth and safe adoption of autonomous systems.

Our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and safety is shaping the future of maritime operations. As we celebrate World Maritime Day, we continue to work towards a greener, safer world, supporting the industry’s transition to sustainable practices and technologies.
