BMT was commissioned to review the environmental and social management system (ESMS) of Guangzhou Development Industry Holding Co. Ltd. (GDIH), and also to conduct a cumulative quantitative risk assessment of GDIH's three major industrial facilities - a coal-fired power plant, a gas combined cycle power plant and an oil storage terminal.
GDIH is one of the largest electric power producers in Guangzhou, China. As part of its capital expenditure programme financed by International Finance Corporation (IFC) in 2005, GDIH agreed to implement an Environmental and Social Action Plan in order to meet the World Bank/IFC environmental and social policies and HSE guidelines.
Through the guidance and assistance of BMT, our customers demonstrated acceptable safety levels and proper reporting of sustainable practices, raising its standards of environmental protection and social responsibility.
We conducted a feasibility study including assessment of site conditions water depths, met-ocean, geotechnical, vessel traffic, safety zones, safe access, land constraints and other conditions. We evaluated several concepts to receive, store and regasify LNG, and recommended the best option.
We identified and provided solutions to potential hazards and operability and maintainability problems for a polystyrene plant in Egypt.
We were appointed to undertake a regional study to assess the commercial potential of the development of a marine waste collection and reprocessing network.
We were commissioned by an International Gas Supplier to conduct an Explosion Impact and Vent Dispersion study for three proposed hydrogen plants to assess the explosion overpressure impacts due to catastrophic failure of selected equipment.
