UK MoD Defence Equipment and Support In-Service Submarines (ISM) Project Team (via SSMG) required support to design an Environmental Management System (EMS) to meet the objectives of the MoD’s DE&S Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS) Project-Oriented Environmental Management System Manual (POEMS).
We, in partnership with ISM have established the EMS framework which meets the requirements of POEMS but utilises Claims Arguments and Evidence (CAE) methodology to aid in the production of a holistic Environmental Case approach. Our support included the production of:
Now the EMS and framework have been established, ISM will begin to populate the framework with existing and new information. Potential benefits that could be realised from implementation of the EMS include:
National Grid are currently leading “zero-2050”, a multi organisational initiative seeking to develop a co-ordinated cross-sector strategy for achieving net zero carbon emissions for the South Wales region. The UK has a target to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. A net-zero target requires deep reductions in emissions, coupled with techniques such as carbon capture and storage to offset any remaining sources.

The Surface Water Management Plans (SWMPs) outline an assessment of surface water flood risk, recognising the flood mechanisms and economic impact to residential and commercial properties across the catchments of Clacton on Sea and Sawbridgeworth.
BMT was engaged by the Queensland Government to produce an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the Kaili Valley Wetlands to guide future industrial development within the APSDA and maintain the values of these nationally significant wetlands in a coordinated way.
