Client: Pearl Oil
Pearl Oil are proposing to develop a new oil and gas field in the Makassar Straits, with the platform location for this operation being some 350km distant from land based processing facilities at Balikpapan. In order to deliver product to the land facilities, there will need to be a bottom mounted pipeline, and hence design of this pipeline from a safety/risk perspective is a key issue.
In order to inform and guide the design of the pipeline and offshore production platform, BMT completed a significant metocean data collection and soliton evaluation exercise.
Key tasks completed in this regard included the following:
We carried out a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Exhaust Dispersion Study for Technip Malaysia for the ICHTHYS Field Development Project Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, to be located in the Browse Basin off Western Australia, approximately 440 km north of Broome and 800 km southwest of Darwin.
We assisted in the development of offshore oil facilities on Pulau Busing Island, off Singapore's busy south coast. The work was motivated by the increasing costs of oil, and our team was in place to assess a total engineering design and project management consultancy for four new jetties.
We identified and provided solutions to potential hazards and operability and maintainability problems for a polystyrene plant in Egypt.
We were commissioned by Puma Energy to conduct a HAZOP Study to review the FEED safety design for the current North Vietnam Bitumen Terminal.
