In 2015, BMT set out to transform how the offshore industry manages, analyzes, and leverages complex marine monitoring data. The result was BMT Deep, a pioneering data analytics platform that has become a cornerstone of operational assurance and asset insight for clients worldwide.

Today, we proudly celebrate 10 years of innovation and development of BMT Deep — a decade defined by technological breakthroughs, close client collaboration, and a relentless drive to help organizations unlock the full value of their data.

Origins: Solving Real-World Data Challenges

BMT Deep was born from a clear need: organizations were grappling with fragmented, legacy data systems that made it difficult to derive meaningful insights, especially when managing diverse assets and environmental data across global operations. Recognizing this challenge, BMT engineers and data scientists developed BMT Deep — an intelligent, cloud-based platform designed to unify data storage, processing, exploration, and advanced analytics in one secure, accessible environment.

  • 2016-2017: Launch of data archival, trend reporting, and system status tools, enabling clients to visualize years of operational data with ease.
  • 2018-2019: Introduction of Deep's Analysis Studio powered by Databricks, real-time system status tracking, containerization for scalability, and automated quality control.
  • 2020-2022: Significant system improvements that allow us to work more efficiently and deliver better results, while developing valuable client tools like DataHub, Structural Monitoring, Metocean Dashboards, and Hurricane Reporting that provide real-time insights into environmental conditions and asset integrity.
  • 2023-2024: Introduction of real-time data streaming, enhanced structural and metocean dashboards, and machine learning integration for predictive analytics and digital twin capabilities. Key applications developed include the Adaptive Dredging tool for Ports and Harbours that improves operational understanding of sediment transfers, and a Decision Support system that ensures safe offloading operations for clients.

We've introduced next-generation data exploration tools for efficient multi-sensor visualization and developed custom dashboards tailored to specific operational needs. Through continuous integration of the latest machine learning innovations, we're constantly improving our service delivery.
