BMT was part of the alliance that played a vital role in the design and construction of two Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers – HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales. We were delighted to join fellow UK Naval Engineering, Science & Technology (UKNEST) members and guests to celebrate the successful completion of the second aircraft carrier.
The event took place inside the hangar while the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier was docked in central Liverpool for her first public open days. It featured a range of stands, tours of the ship, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities and presentations. BMT had 20 engineers in attendance and our Virtual Reality capability was popular with visitors, including Jeremy Quin MP, Minister for Defence Procurement.
Monty Long, Business Development and Strategy Director said:
“We were delighted to take part in this brilliant event, which was an opportunity for BMT and the rest of the alliance to celebrate the successful completion of the second aircraft carrier with customers, industry partners and guests. It was fantastic to engage with the current and next generation of engineers. BMT has a long history of working with the MOD and we are proud to support the Royal Navy to help ensure the UK stays safe and present on the global stage.”
