BMT awarded client-side partner contract by Defence Digital

The agreement relates to the Deployed Platform Services (DPS) Delivery Team at MOD Corsham. It will support the delivery of best-in-class digital platforms as well as transformation to a future operating model.

12 October 2020

Part of Defence Digital - Service Delivery and Operations, the DPS team deliver best in class digital platforms that enable Information Advantage and Manoeuvre for the UK military front line.

The DPS portfolio includes two high profile programmes: New Style of IT (Deployed), which delivers hardware, software and associated management and support to host the command and control, administrative and logistics services required by Operational Commanders and their staff in maritime, littoral, land and air environments; Interoperability Services & Gateways which enables UK Defence users to exchange information with a range of government and international partners whilst keeping the MOD’s classified networks secure.

The Client-Side Partner will support the DPS Delivery Team in transitioning to a new operating model where the MOD will become the Design Authority and Service Delivery integrator supported by a suite of agile Managed Service Providers.  DPS are pathfinding this approach and will lay down a blueprint for other Defence Digital Delivery Teams to follow.

The Client-Side Partner will have specific responsibility for helping coordinate the DPS Portfolio, maintaining the Portfolio Service Architecture Baseline and providing Programme Management Support along with a Resource Management Function.  Key to the BMT approach is open and collaborative working with DPS and all stakeholders as one team, with the managed transfer of knowledge to Crown Servants so that they are positioned to take over these demanding roles in the medium term as the Future Operating Model matures.

Monty Long, Regional Business Development Director for UK and Europe at BMT, commented:

“BMT has assembled a team with unrivalled experience to combine their extensive Portfolio Service Architecture expertise, P3M capabilities, and proven track record of collaborative working and knowledge transfer.  We are delighted to be joining DPS in their transformation to deliver secure and integrated Information Capability at scale and pace to the Front Line.”

The initial 2-year Client-Side Partner contract started on 1st October 2020. There are two 1-year options to extend the warranty further.
