New partnership with University of Exeter

The partnership will also give employees, researchers and students alike through the exchange of knowledge, project placements and sharing of facilities.

The agreement is a critical milestone in our joint research on immersive reality at the VSimulator project - a collaboration between the University of Exeter and the University of Bath.  Our contribution includes two tailored multi-disciplinary platforms combining virtual reality with a motion platform and entire-body motion capture. These facilities will offer a wealth of opportunities for collaborative research and draw on our extensive knowledge in creating immersive learning experiences and environments.

The University of Exeter is known for pursuing technical excellence, investment in research and global reach. This agreement will be mutually beneficial thanks to the established connections across industry and academia.

Signing the agreement on behalf of BMT, Mark Sullivan, Capability and Strategy Director, said:

We’re exceptionally proud to be working with such a world-renowned university on solving some of the most complex technical challenges. This collaboration agreement will strengthen our ties and provide excellent opportunities for students at the University of Exeter through industry student placements, graduate programmes and collaboration on projects. Conversely, we’ll benefit from access to cutting-edge research, world-leading facilities and an unrivalled talent pool in the South West”.

Sean Fielding, Director of Innovation, Impact and Business at the University of Exeter, said:

“We are delighted to be working together with BMT to share intelligence, research and development skills and innovation. The University works with over 2,000 businesses each year, and the defence sector is an important part of the South West economy, so it is great to be able to contribute strategically to one of the top players in this critical industry.”
